K-1 Mrs Butler
Welcome to Term 2 2015
This term we will be investigating "Weather in our World"
as part of an interconnected science and literacy unit. Students in K/1 will be engaged as meteorologists, investigating weather tools and conducting and recording ongoing weather watch observations. We will also be studying various types of clouds and severe weather phenomena like tornadoes and storms. We will be developing the use of descriptive language in our writing and will be reading and learning about informative texts.
Reading Mastery and Connecting Maths Concepts groups continue to occur 4 days a week across the whole school. Children are regularly assessed and placed in a group based on their individual abilities. All students in the class are encouraged to read aloud at home every night and to practise their sight words to improve further with their reading.
As part of our Personal Development and Health program we will meet a fictional character called "Doctor Gemma."
This unit will assist us as we learn about medicine safety and what to do in an emergency.
I look forward to another wonderful term of education and fun with K-1.
